Kia ora!

I’m Isabel Li, an illustrator, writer, and human-computer interaction researcher. My research focuses on creativity support, art education, and artist communities, particularly in visual arts and writing. I am interested in process, co-design, how artists respond to or subvert technology, and how technology interacts with the politics and material conditions of creative communities.

My undergraduate lab was the Berkeley Institute of Design, and I am currently a visiting researcher at the Design Tools Lab. I was also recently one of the first artists-in-residence at Now Place in San Francisco Chinatown, and host community art events there when I'm not jamming the riso printer.

I'm open to collaborations and general hellos! As an independent researcher (who is looking for PhD positions!) with a day job in industry, my research over the past two years has only been made possible through working with other lovely researchers. You can reach me via email at hooray@[firstname].[lastname].
